Declawing
Declawing is a misnomer.
The surgery involves amputation and severing of the tendons.
Increasing evidence is becoming available regarding the negative effects of declawing a feline.
Cats R Us believes that declawing is inhumane and causes unnecessary pain and suffering with no benefit to the cat. Some European countries have banned declawing.
Cats R Us will work with the new guardian to solve the problem of furniture scratching. It is not difficult to learn to keep your cat´s claws trimmed, plus scratching posts can really work. In addition, products such as Soft PawsTM may be used to eliminate furniture damage due to scratching.
If the new guardian feels that declawing is the only option, the cat must be surrendered back to Cats R Us.
